Attendees will hear from Lansing Promise leaders and Lansing Promise Scholars to celebrate the work being made possible by the support of the Lansing community. Local celebrities and champions, including Tico Duckett, Todd Duckett, Andre Hutson, Sheri Jones, Greg Jones and Kevin Miller, will hit the fairway with their respective teams ending the day with an inspiring dinner. Each Lansing Promise Scholarship provides tuition assistance for up to 65 credits at Lansing Community College or the equivalent dollar amount toward tuition and fees at Michigan State University or Olivet College. The ladies of Chi Sigma are always looking for other hardworking, dedicated, and extraordinary women to join our chapter and the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The Chi Sigma chapter also oversees two Affiliate organizations, the Chi Sigma Rhoers, and the Chi Sigma Philo chapters. ![]() Today, the Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter has grown exponentially and currently is comprised of over 50 dedicated, hardworking, and educated women! The Chi Sigma chapter is now the governing chapter for three undergraduate chapters: Delta Eta, Miles College, Xi Mu, University of Alabama, Birmingham, and Delta Chi at Talladega College. The initial projects of the chapter were re-establishing the sorority’s membership in the Birmingham Alumni Chapter of the NPHC and promoting the mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. In November of 1997, three graduates of the Xi Mu Chapter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Cindy Gilyard, Leticia Love Woodruff, and Catina Passmore, along with two UAB graduate students who were members of the Alpha Zeta Sigma Alumnae Chapter, Griena Knight, and Zevia White, re-activated the Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter. ![]() Sorors Rutha Heard and Mamie Jordan worked diligently to maintain the public presence of Sigma Gamma Rho in Birmingham by representing in local chapters of national programs the sorority sponsors as well as maintaining membership in the Magic City chapter of the Links. The chapter had the honor of hosting the 15th Boule December of 1940 as well as hosting the Southeast Regional Conferences during March of 1950, 1964, and 2012.Ĭhi Sigma became inactive in 1995 due to members retiring and moving away or passing on to the Omega Rho Chapter. ![]() Many of our founding chapter members achieve multiple accomplishments within the sorority on the local, regional, and national levels. The additional charter members were Alta Benning, Essie Bennett, Josie Ward Brown, Alma Coprich Cole, Alma Dickinson, Lucille Lay, Edna Prowell, Belzora Ward, and Eloise Ward West. The Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on November 11, 1938, by Soror Rubye Peake Watts Hall, who was serving as the Grand Syntakes at this time.
